Role

Climate17 are working with a specialist electrical engineering contractor delivering HV and LV infrastructure projects across the UK power and renewable energy sectors.

They are looking to appoint an Electrical Estimator / QS to take ownership of pricing enquiries and tenders while providing ongoing commercial oversight of projects through delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation, completing take-offs and identifying scope gaps, risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed electrical estimates covering labour, materials, plant, subcontractors, design and preliminaries.
  • Account for project-specific requirements including mobilisation, shutdowns, access constraints and phased delivery.
  • Obtain, analyse and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Work with the technical team to develop commercially viable solutions and value engineering opportunities.
  • Prepare clear and accurate tender submissions, including pricing schedules, assumptions, qualifications and exclusions.
  • Support the Commercial Director with tender negotiations and commercial discussions.
  • Work closely with operational and technical teams to ensure awarded projects are handed over with clearly defined budgets, scope and commercial expectations.
  • Provide commercial oversight to the Project Manager throughout project delivery.
  • Monitor project costs, progress, forecast margins and commercial risks.
  • Manage the pricing, submission and agreement of project variations.
  • Support valuations, payment applications and final account processes.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and provide regular project cost/margin reporting.

Requirements

  • Strong experience estimating electrical installation or infrastructure projects.
  • Good understanding of electrical labour, materials, plant and subcontractor costs.
  • Practical commercial experience, ideally including variations, valuations, cost control and project margin management.
  • Strong Excel skills and able to produce detailed cost estimates and commercial reports.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
  • Comfortable working closely with technical, operational and project delivery teams.
  • Experience within HV/LV infrastructure, power distribution, substations or renewable energy would be advantageous.
  • Previous exposure to solar PV, BESS or other electrical infrastructure projects
  • Candidates may come from either an electrical estimating or a Quantity Surveying background

 

Location:          Remote UK + occasional site/office travel (expensed).
