Climate17 is pleased to be working with a leading independent advisor specialising in heat networks across the UK. This role is focused on operational oversight, technical quality assurance, and driving performance excellence for heat networks in the social housing and housing-provider sector.

Role Overview
You’ll play a pivotal role shaping how heat networks perform in service, compliance, and carbon reduction. As the operational lead, you'll take ownership of technical deliverables and ensure network resilience and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Oversee delivery of operational reports, audit quality, and technical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Act as the accountable lead for technical quality, ensuring outputs meet high standards.
  • Partner with housing providers to deliver operational reviews, efficiency and optimisation projects, and decarbonisation strategies
  • Support site investigations, desktop efficiency reviews, tariff setting, and compliance assessments.
  • Provide actionable insights to improve system performance, reduce carbon and cost, and enhance customer service

Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • 6 years operational experience within the heat network sector (e.g. social housing, district-wide heat schemes).
  • Demonstrable experience accountable for technical quality in operational reports and recommendations.
  • Qualifications:
    • Either a Level 7 qualification, or
    • Level 11 in an engineering discipline, or
    • Professionally registered Chartered Engineer status.

    What We’re Looking For
    • Proven expertise in managing heat network performance, strategy, optimisation, or compliance.
    • Strong understanding of metering, HIUs, plant rooms, tariff-setting, billing, and operational KPIs.
    • Analytical, technical, and commercial capability to identify system inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
    • Excellent stakeholder skills  able to communicate findings to clients, contractors, and board-level individuals.
