Backed by significant long-term investment, this rapidly growing organisation is delivering major infrastructure projects that will decarbonise heat across towns and cities throughout the UK. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a Senior Investment Analyst to strengthen their commercial and investment capability.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth organisation at the forefront of the UK's energy transition.
Working within the Commercial team, you'll provide portfolio-level financial oversight across a growing pipeline of low-carbon infrastructure projects. You'll lead investment modelling, valuations, commercial analysis, and financial decision-making, ensuring robust modelling standards and supporting strategic investment decisions.
This role offers significant exposure to senior leadership, investors, and external stakeholders, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to influence the financial direction of a rapidly expanding infrastructure business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of complex financial and valuation models.
- Develop investment cases for new and existing infrastructure projects, including scenario analysis, long-term forecasting, and return assessments.
- Support financial close activities, working closely with technical, commercial, finance, legal, and investment stakeholders.
- Review project-level financial models to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with portfolio assumptions.
- Establish and maintain financial modelling standards, templates, and quality assurance processes.
- Provide guidance and oversight to Commercial Analysts within the team.
- Build and maintain portfolio-wide financial assumptions, including CAPEX, OPEX, demand forecasts, pricing, and macroeconomic inputs.
- Support funding, refinancing, and capital allocation activities.
- Produce financial analysis for shareholder reporting, portfolio valuations, and business planning.
- Present commercial insights and investment recommendations to senior leadership, investors, and external stakeholders.
About You
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- Experience within the energy, renewable energy, infrastructure, or utilities sectors.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure valuation, project finance, and investment appraisal methodologies.
- Proven experience developing and reviewing complex financial models.
- A minimum of five years' experience within a private equity-backed business, private equity, infrastructure investment, investment banking, corporate finance, or a Big Four advisory environment.
- Experience preparing investment cases, transaction analysis, and portfolio valuations.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability.
- Strong analytical thinking and commercial judgement.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within district heating, renewable energy, utilities, or regulated infrastructure.
- Experience working within a fast-growing or investment-backed organisation.
