Senior Interconnection Engineer Renewable Energy

A renewable energy business with a substantial U.S. development pipeline is seeking an Interconnection Manager to oversee the interconnection process for battery energy storage and solar PV projects. The role will support projects from mid-stage studies through construction and commercial operation, ensuring technical quality, compliance, and effective coordination across all internal and external stakeholders.
This position is central to the successful delivery of projects through the grid connection lifecycle and will require strong technical understanding, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
Role Overview The Interconnection Manager will coordinate interconnection activities across utility and ISO territories, helping to drive projects from study phase through to COD. The role involves managing technical submissions, tracking milestones, supporting studies and model reviews, and working closely with engineering, development, construction, compliance, project delivery, and IT teams to ensure timely progression.
Post-COD, the role will continue to provide technical support, including due diligence, compliance input, and evaluation of storage integration.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead interconnection activity from mid-stage studies through COD across utilities and ISOs.
- Manage study schedules, planning activities, technical submissions, and review cycles.
- Prepare and coordinate model submissions, including RARF, QSA, and PLD documentation.
- Work with internal departments and external counterparts to maintain delivery timelines and project milestones.
- Oversee technical studies such as short-circuit analysis, reactive power studies, SSR, and commissioning dynamic models.
- Review and support interconnection agreements, project scopes, and any required updates following design changes.
- Provide post-COD technical support relating to operations, compliance, and battery storage integration.
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering; a Power Systems focus is preferred.
- Masters degree in renewable energy, grid operations, or electrical power systems is advantageous.
- Professional Engineer licence in Power Systems is highly desirable.
- 3 years of experience with transmission-connected inverter-based generation.
- 2 years of experience using TARA, PSS/E, and PSLF for steady-state and contingency analysis.
- 2 years of PSCAD modelling experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of Aspen, PowerWorld, and AutoCAD is beneficial.
