About the Role
We’re looking for a Project Engineer to join a growing infrastructure and energy team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys both technical design work and occasional field coordination, thrives on problem-solving, and takes pride in delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

You’ll work on electrical distribution projects that directly support utilities and renewable energy systems, collaborating with experienced designers and project teams across multiple disciplines.

Location
This position is hybrid — you’ll mainly work from the Charlotte area, with flexibility to work from home one day a week. The role may include occasional travel to client sites or field locations (5–10%).

The Role
  • Design and prepare electrical distribution drawings and documentation following client standards.

  • Develop construction and material specifications for overhead and underground systems.

  • Create cost estimates and technical proposals for new projects.

  • Review, approve, and stamp engineering drawings where required.

  • Provide design support and professional guidance to project designers and field teams.

  • Use AutoCADAutodesk Utility Design, and ESRI ArcGIS to produce and update technical drawings.

  • Coordinate project details with internal teams like Business Development, Procurement, and Project Management.

  • Complete field visits to collect design data and confirm site conditions.

  • Maintain up-to-date records of schedules, design notes, and correspondence.

Skillset Needed
  • Proven experience in electrical distribution design and engineering calculations.

  • Working knowledge of Construction Units (CU/MU)NESC, and NEC standards.

  • Familiarity with utility design and construction practices.

  • Proficiency with AutoCADMicroStation, or similar CAD tools.

  • Experience using ESRI ArcGIS or a comparable GIS/utility software.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GIS maps, and field data.

  • Comfortable with occasional travel to project sites.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in renewable energy or utility-scale projects.

  • Strong drafting background, particularly for overhead distribution design.

Why You’ll Love It Here
  • Hybrid role with a mix of office, field, and remote work.

  • Supportive, team-oriented environment focused on quality and learning.

  • Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week with some flexibility for project deadlines.

  • All equipment, PPE, and software provided.

Pay & Contract Details
  • Hourly Rate:

    • Junior Engineer: around $80/hr

    • Mid-Level Engineer: $90–$100/hr

  • Contract Duration: 12 months, with potential to extend or convert to full-time employment.

If you’re a motivated engineer ready to work on meaningful energy and infrastructure projects, we’d love to hear from you!
