Climate17 is pleased to be working with a leading low-carbon heating infrastructure developer that is helping accelerate the transition to sustainable heat through the design, delivery and operation of renewable heating and district energy systems.
Operating at the forefront of the UKs heat network and heat pump sector, the organisation delivers innovative low-carbon heating solutions across residential, commercial and public sector developments. With strong growth in the sector and an expanding project pipeline, this is an exciting opportunity to join a company playing a critical role in the decarbonisation of heating .
The Role As Senior (Lead) Design Engineer, you will lead the design and development of renewable heating systems across a range of heat network projects. These include 4th and 5th generation heat networks, energy centres and distribution systems serving residential developments, hotels, schools and commercial buildings.
Working within the mechanical design team, you will support projects from early feasibility through to detailed design and construction delivery, while mentoring other engineers and supporting the wider project and commercial teams .

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of heat networks, energy centres, plant rooms and ambient networks
- Deliver technical design across projects from feasibility through to construction
- Develop optimised heat network designs in line with CP1 standards
- Produce calculations, specifications and technical documentation
- Support tender submissions and provide engineering input to sales teams
- Work closely with project teams, suppliers and client design teams
- Review and support Revit 3D models and BIM outputs
- Undertake borehole and ground loop modelling (GLD) for ambient networks
- Support design development and technical problem solving across projects
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in system design
About You
- Degree or HNC in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Ideally 10 years experience in mechanical / HVAC / building services design
- Strong experience designing heat pump systems and renewable heating networks Knowledge of district energy systems and heat network infrastructure
- Experience using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, COMSOF and GLD modelling
- Strong understanding of CIBSE guidance, CP1 and heat network design
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering designs
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Chartered status (MCIBSE / CEng) desirable or working towards
