We're supporting a well-established renewable energy organisation with a substantial portfolio of utility-scale assets across the UK in the search for an experienced Head of SHEQ.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for shaping the company's health, safety, environmental and quality strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance and embedding a proactive safety culture across both operational assets and project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead the company's SHEQ function, reporting directly to senior leadership.
- Develop and enhance SHEQ policies, management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with UK health, safety and environmental legislation, industry standards and internal procedures.
- Provide expert advice and support to operational and project teams, promoting consistent best practice across the business.
- Lead, develop and mentor the SHEQ team, setting objectives and driving performance.
- Oversee incident management, investigations, root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, communication, training and stakeholder engagement.
- Maintain accredited management systems, including ISO standards, and coordinate associated documentation and audits.
- Monitor SHEQ performance through inspections, audits and reporting, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Support project governance through participation in risk reviews, CDM compliance and wider HSEQ assurance activities.
Requirements
- Significant experience in a senior Health & Safety or SHEQ leadership role.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent professional qualification).
- Chartered Member of either IOSH and/or MIOB (Desirable)
- Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation, ISO management systems and CDM Regulations.
- Experience supporting renewable energy, infrastructure, engineering or construction projects.
- Confident leading teams, influencing stakeholders and driving organisational change.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using HSEQ reporting and management systems.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willing to travel to sites across the UK as required.

Location: Scotland – hybrid working + travel as req. (Sites across the UK)
