Help drive the global energy transition through your financial expertise

A fully remote, globally focused nonprofit is seeking an experienced Finance professional to join its team on a 6-month interim basis, providing sickness cover with the possibility of an extension.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting the organisation's financial management, reporting and compliance functions, while contributing to a mission focused on accelerating the global clean energy transition.

You will bring a strong understanding of UK accounting standards and nonprofit financial management, alongside the ability to work collaboratively across a dynamic and international organisation.

The Role

Working as part of the finance team, you will help ensure the organisation's financial operations remain accurate, effective and sustainable, supporting its long-term stability and impact.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing month-end closing and payment processes
  • Preparing and overseeing grant reporting
  • Managing internal grant allocations
  • Supporting effective cash flow management
  • Overseeing treasury and accounting functions
  • Ensuring ongoing regulatory and financial compliance
  • Supporting budgeting and budget control
  • Preparing financial statements, management reports and compliance documentation
  • Working closely with the organisation's external bookkeeper
  • Supporting other departments with team-based budgets and financial planning
  • Ensuring financial management aligns with wider organisational goals

About You

You will be an experienced finance professional with a strong background in UK nonprofit organisations and a genuine interest in the climate and energy transition.

Essential experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • At least 3 years' experience working within the finance functions of at least two different UK-headquartered nonprofit organisations
  • Experience preparing financial and grant reports, including internal grant allocation
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and nonprofit financial management
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • A genuine passion for the climate movement and/or global energy transition

Desirable experience:

  • Using AI within finance
  • Managing team-based P&Ls and budgeting processes
  • Experience with Xero
  • Strong knowledge of Google Workspace, particularly Google Sheets
  • Additional language skills, particularly Asian languages or Spanish

Salary & Contract

  • £60,000–£65,000 FTE per annum
  • Equivalent to approximately £5,000–£5,500 per month at 100% FTE
  • 60%–100% full-time equivalent
  • 6-month contract, with possibility to extend
  • UK based
  • Fully remote
