Climate17 is pleased to be working with a market-leading renewable fuel infrastructure company that supports UK HGV fleets in reducing carbon emissions through the development and operation of Bio-LNG / Bio-CNG refuelling stations. The organisation is entering an exciting phase of growth, with multiple new stations planned over the next 2–3 years, and is at the forefront of clean freight solutions in the UK.

This is a key leadership role, ideal for an experienced engineering professional seeking to make a real impact in the UK’s decarbonisation journey.

Role Overview
As Engineering Manager, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team (cryogenics, process, mechanical, field service, design and controls) and act as the technical authority across the organisation’s assets. You will ensure consistent, safe, and compliant engineering standards across site design, construction, maintenance, and upgrades

Key Responsibilities
  • Line management of specialist engineering team
  • Ownership of engineering standards, procedures and governance
  • Ensure compliance with COMAH, PSSR, DSEAR, ISO and IEC standards
  • Sign-off on designs, modifications and operating procedures
  • Lead Management of Change (MoC) processes
  • Provide technical oversight for new builds and site upgrades
  • Drive asset reliability and performance improvements
  • Manage departmental budget and technical spend
  • Contribute to strategic planning and business cases
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

Experience Required
  • Degree-qualified in Chemical, Process, Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
  • 10 years’ experience in process engineering, ideally LNG/cryogenics
  • Strong understanding of UK safety legislation (COMAH, PSSR, DSEAR, PUWER)
  • Experience in high-hazard environments and risk management (HAZOP, LOPA)
  • Proven people management experience
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
