This leadership role steers commercial strategy for an established renewable energy business in the United States. The position is embedded within a nimble but rapidly scaling and well-capitalized team. The successful candidate will bring deep insights into market dynamics, including energy pricing trends and offtake structures, to establish long-term value.

Collaborating extensively with cross-functional stakeholder, from project development and finance to legal and construction, the Director will shape offtake strategies for greenfield projects opportunities and M&A opportunities.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop and continuously refine market strategies based on evolving conditions in the power sector.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with energy offtakers and other key external stakeholders.
  • Analyze and communicate opportunities and risks related to power purchase agreements in multiple regional energy markets including ERCOT, PJM, MISO and SPP.
  • Design approaches to manage production curtailment risks and market price discrepancies.
  • Leverage capacity market mechanisms in applicable regions to optimize revenue streams.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to development team members.
  • Share expertise and foster collaboration across teams to elevate organizational knowledge of renewable energy markets.
Required Experience and Skills
  • At least a decade of experience in large-scale solar and/or wind energy project development and commercial origination, familiarity in PPA structures preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams, either directly or through matrix management.
  • Experience in building rapport and negotiating with external commercial partners.
  • Exceptional communication skills combined with strong organizational, networking, and time management capabilities.
  • Comfortable with travel demands as necessary.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, technical, business, or finance-related field or equivalent experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience negotiating PPAs from either seller or buyer perspectives.
  • Cross-technology renewable energy experience including battery storage and gas-fired generation projects is advantageous.
  • History of collaboration with project development and engineering groups.
  • Broad understanding of multiple U.S. regional energy markets.
  • Experience in multiple U.S. markets such as ERCOT, MISO, PJM, and SPP.
  • Advanced academic credentials, such as a Master's degree or MBA, are a plus.
