Climate17 is pleased to be working with an innovative engineering consultancy and heat network specialist to appoint a Contracts Manager - Heat Networks.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business delivering complex heat network refurbishment, decarbonisation and infrastructure upgrade projects across the UK. Working across consultancy, design and operational teams, you'll play a pivotal role in taking projects from concept through to construction, ensuring safe, commercially successful and technically robust delivery.
This role is ideal for an experienced Contracts Manager, Project Manager or Building Services professional looking to lead the delivery of low-carbon energy infrastructure projects while working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
The Role
You'll take ownership of the successful delivery of multiple mechanical and electrical heat network projects, managing programmes from feasibility through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
Acting as the key interface between clients, consultants, contractors and operational teams, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to residents and end users.
You'll also play a key role in commercial management, stakeholder engagement, contract administration and ensuring technical solutions are practical, buildable and operationally effective.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of multiple heat network refurbishment and upgrade projects from concept through to completion.
- Develop project programmes, delivery strategies and execution plans.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including consultants, contractors, designers and operational stakeholders.
- Manage project budgets, contractor performance, valuations, variations and commercial reporting.
- Administer construction contracts and oversee procurement activities.
- Coordinate commissioning, testing and project handover.
- Work closely with operational teams to minimise service disruption during live works.
- Build strong client relationships and provide strategic project advice.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, health & safety legislation and quality standards.
- Identify value engineering opportunities and support continuous project improvement.

- Building Management System (BMS) upgrades
- Controls optimisation
- Distribution network modifications

About You
We're looking for someone who brings strong project delivery and contract management experience within building services or mechanical & electrical construction.
You'll ideally have experience managing multiple stakeholders, overseeing live construction projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Experience
- Experience delivering M&E or Building Services construction projects.
- Strong understanding of commercial building services.
- Experience managing contractors and subcontractors.
- Contract administration experience.
- Strong stakeholder and client management skills.
- Experience managing project programmes, budgets and commercial reporting.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and construction safety.
Desirable Experience
- Heat networks or district heating.
- Heat Interface Units (HIUs).
- Energy centres.
- Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Heat pumps or low-carbon heating technologies.
- Occupied residential refurbishment projects.
- Public sector or framework delivery.
- Familiarity with CIBSE CP1, HNTAS or UK Heat Network regulations.
