Project Manager / Construction Project Manager – Utility-Scale Solar

A growing renewable energy business is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Construction Project Manager to support the delivery of utility-scale solar construction projects across the U.S. This role will focus on hands-on execution, contractor coordination, field delivery, and construction oversight, with some involvement in strategic planning and operational improvement.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing project performance from pre-construction through close-out, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards. This is a highly visible position suited to someone with strong construction leadership experience, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to oversee multiple workstreams at once.

Role Overview The Project Manager / Construction Project Manager will oversee day-to-day construction activity across utility-scale solar projects, working closely with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and external partners to ensure delivery against schedule, budget, and quality expectations. The role requires strong organisational capability, commercial awareness, and the ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment.

This position is ideal for a construction professional with solar or large-scale commercial project experience who is comfortable balancing field execution with project controls and cross-functional coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage construction projects from pre-construction through project close-out.
  • Oversee day-to-day construction operations across multiple utility-scale solar projects.
  • Lead and coordinate project teams, including Project Managers, Project Management Assistants, site superintendents, subcontractors, and external vendors.
  • Support the strategic direction of construction activities and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Manage contractor relationships, including General Contractors, A&E teams, commissioning agents, and equipment suppliers.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of policies, procedures, and construction processes.
  • Establish and maintain supply chain relationships.
  • Oversee budget, forecasting, cost controls, and financial reporting for assigned projects.
  • Monitor risk, quality, schedule, and overall project performance.
  • Support contract administration, including prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, construction best practice, and applicable regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, contractors, clients, and public agencies.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across construction operations.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and performance support to project teams.
Your Experience
  • 5 years of construction project management experience.
  • Background in utility-scale solar or large-scale commercial construction strongly preferred.
  • Degree preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
  • PMP certification is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of contract administration, construction delivery, and project controls.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working across office and field environments.
  • 25% travel predominantly to local neighbouring states.
