Construction Estimator – Renewable Energy EPC

Location: White Plains, NY
Type: Full-time, office-based
Compensation: $80,000–$125,000, depending on experience

A growing renewable energy EPC is seeking a Construction Estimator to join its in-house team in White Plains, NY. This role supports preconstruction planning and cost estimating for projects across the commercial and smaller utility-scale renewable energy sector in the United States.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams across engineering, procurement, construction, and project development. This is a highly collaborative position suited to someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced project environment.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating and Cost Development

• Prepare detailed construction cost estimates across multiple project stages.
  
  
• Produce conceptual, budgetary, and final estimates as projects progress.
  
  
• Complete quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and site plans.
  
  
• Assess labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor pricing, logistics, and productivity assumptions.
  
  
• Build contingencies, escalation allowances, and risk-based pricing into estimates.

Preconstruction and Coordination

• Work with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to confirm scope and constructability.
  
  
• Support internal pricing reviews and project handoffs from development into execution.
  
  
• Assist with subcontractor outreach, bid comparison, and scope clarification.
  
  
• Contribute to value engineering and cost optimisation discussions.

Systems, Tools, and Reporting

• Use project management and documentation systems to track scope and preconstruction activity.
  
  
• Maintain accurate estimating files, assumptions logs, and historical cost data.
  
  
• Support preliminary scheduling and sequencing assumptions where required.
  
  
• Assist with schedule-driven cost analysis and planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  
  
• 2–5 years of construction estimating experience, 1 year of large scale renewables.
  
  
• Strong knowledge of construction methods and means.
  
  
• Experience producing quantity takeoffs and detailed estimates.
  
  
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with cost models.
  
  
• Strong communication, organisation, and attention to detail.
  
  
• Ability to work onsite in White Plains, NY.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in renewable energy, electrical infrastructure, EPC, or large-scale construction.
  
  
• Familiarity with scheduling tools such as MS Project, Primavera, or similar.
  
  
• Understanding of EPC project structures and risk allocation.
