Technical Development Manager – Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

Climate17 are pleased to be partnering with a leading renewable power generator who operate a major portfolio of landfill gas assets across the UK.

As part of their long-term business strategy, they are planning to co-locate Solar and Storage on a range of existing sites.

As a result of this, they are currently seeking to hire a Technical Development Manager with a solid background in battery energy storage systems (BESS) technology.

This person is likely to come from a consultancy, energy optimiser or BESS development background and have strong knowledge of energy storage project technical complexities but also an understanding of the commercial impact of the technical design assumptions of energy storage systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities within the existing asset base to develop battery energy storage projects.
• Make recommendations to the board and senior business leaders for investment.
• Lead commercial, technical & consenting aspects of project tendering, development & delivery.
• Build relationships with all relevant stakeholders – Consultants, OEMs etc.
• Gain planning approvals as and when required, working with the inhouse team.
• Secure all necessary legal & commercial agreements.
• Secure environmental permitting for any and all relevant sites.
• Mitigate any and all risks associated with the development journey.
• Work with optimisers to maximise the value of the assets.

Requirements

• A strong track-record in the development of battery energy storage projects.
• Full project lifecycle exposure in previous roles.
• Commercially astute and able to deliver presentations to the board for investment approval.
• A keen interest in renewable energy & sustainability.
• Competent team player, but able to work autonomously where required.
• Nationally mobile.
