Climate17 and the SBTi are recruiting for an Energy Sourcing Manager (Senior). The Manager for Energy Sourcing will join the Corporate Standards Team, and play a critical role in this transition, incorporating research findings from research on the effectiveness of energy certificates into the Corporate Net-Zero Standard by enhancing requirements for effective energy decarbonization.
This position will report to the Value Chains Lead, based in the UK.
This role plays an important part in Determining what constitutes credible corporate sourcing
of zero-carbon energy and integrating this into SBTi Standards.

as well as corporate climate target-setting and action.
About the SBTi:
The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) is a global body enabling businesses to set
ambitious emissions reductions targets in line with the latest climate science. It is focused on
accelerating companies worldwide to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero
emissions before 2050.
The SBTi defines and promotes best practices in science-based target setting, offers resources
and guidance to reduce barriers to adoption, and independently assesses and approves
companies targets.

Essential skills and experience needed:
This is a full-time role, and the location is flexible but the UK, Germany, USA, Mexico, and France are preferred.
The salary for this role will depend on location and experience level. This role is a fixed term
contract for 12 months with the possibility of an extension.

Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the development of work streams related to Scope 2 and corporate energy sourcing,
- integrating scientific research and data into actionable and robust standards.
- Collaborate closely with the Research Team to ensure the new requirements and metrics
- related to Scope 2 are practical, scientifically rigorous, and aligned with global climate
- goals.
- Develop guidance related to the implementation of SBTi standards about energy
- decarbonization.
- Manage stakeholder
- consultation processes, balancing scientific credibility with the practicalities of corporate implementation.
- Facilitate the external implementation of revised standards across the SBTi network,
- including training and development of communication materials.
Essential skills and experience needed:
- A minimum of 5 years in the sustainability/climate change field, with a focus on zero
- carbon and renewable energy.
- Expert knowledge of market-based instruments and their role in driving a clean, efficient
- energy system
- Demonstrated experience with science-based targets, GHG accounting standards, and in driving corporate accountability in climate action.
- Excellent writing skills, including the ability to make complex technical subjects accessible to non-expert audiences.
- Exceptional communication skills, adept at working with diverse teams to advance project objectives.
- Strong project and people management capabilities, with a track record of leading collaborative efforts in a culturally diverse environment.
- Experience in convening multi-stakeholder processes.
- Ideally, experience working within a formal standard-setting organization and knowledge of ISEAL Codes of Good Practice.
