Our client is a pioneering flexible electricity and leading demand-side response (DSR) business, providing short-notice response and reserve energy which is cheaper and greener than conventional power stations. The company plays a key role in the renewable revolution and in the electrification of heat and transport as we strive toward net zero. The business is based in Edinburgh and occupies a superb office space overlooking Edinburgh Castle.

As Data Services Administrator, you will be coordinating data and information relating to the company's multiple contractual agreements within the GB Energy Capacity Market. You will take ownership for managing the company's responsibilities under these contracts, engaging and reporting to internal stakeholders and external bodies, including National Grid.

Due to the level of data manipulation and analysis required in this role, you will need to be an advanced Excel user. It is desirable that you have energy market knowledge in gas and electricity markets, and preference will be given to candidates that have this.

Essential Skills and Experience

This role requires an enthusiastic, organised, proactive and confident individual with the following key skills:

  • Above-average proficiency of Excel is required (complex formulae, macros, and pivot-tables),
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Good planning and organisational abilities
  • Ability to learn quickly and bring improvements from previous experience
  • Capacity to work within a wider team as well as autonomously
  • Confident manner on the phone / MS Teams when engaging with external organisations
  • Ability to schedule your workload according to priorities and work with minimal supervision,
  • Desire to shine in a small team
  • The ability to inspire and motivate others and can work calmly under pressure.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Data review, analysis, and timely, accurate completion of requests
  • Query management and resolution,
  • Relationship development and contract management with third party providers
  • Recording, analysing, and reporting on performance of individual contracts
  • Liaison with external parties, including key energy suppliers
  • Maintenance of company contracts via external web portals and online systems.
