Climate17 are pleased to be working with a leading charitable organisation who have been established for 100 years, supporting the food and consumer goods industry. Their mission is to provide commercial insight and support to their members, they are passionate to find sustainable solutions for challenges facing the food and consumer goods industry. This is a pivotal role within the industry and as Head of Sustainability you will work in conjunction with some of the UK's leading consumer brands and retailers to make change happen.

About the Role

In this role you will have responsibility for leading and shaping sustainability strategy and drive programmes including; food waste, food surplus, redistribution, climate change and sustainable packaging. You will have the opportunity to grow a team and explore initiatives, participate in working groups, champion sustainability activities and enjoy networking across a wide range of industry executives, academics and government offices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategy and deliver many sustainability programmes.
  • Follow market trends and customer feedback to spot opportunity and improvements.
  • Evaluate and proof written content.
  • Build a multi-disciplinary team of experts to meet business plan and KPIs.
  • Oversee and produce the annual budget and business process plan for Sustainability division.
  • Engage with relevant industry working groups, officials and external stakeholders, representing the organisation at industry meetings and events.
  • Work with marketing team to raise awareness and drive engagement with sustainability programmes.
  • Produce and champion recommendations based on the organisations research and your technical expertise both internally and externally.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate technical subject matter expertise across the Sustainability agenda including Climate Change and wider environmental issues.
  • Proven career within the UK food and consumer goods sector.
  • A minimum of degree level education within sustainability. (Masters preferred)
  • Keenness to bring about change within the UK FMCG sector with an interest in the bigger sustainability picture i.e. social impact and political issues.
  • Have confidence and the ability to influence and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to understand challenges, problem solve and work towards achieving shared goals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with good attention to detail and presentation skills.
