What’s Happening Right Now in Corporate Sustainability

Having just attended two great events in London; Sustainability Live and Edie24, my main takeaway is that our Corporates need people with a unique blend of skills.

There is a step forward by corporations now moving onto the Sustainability Transition Planning phase, which has a ‘learn as you go’ feel and can be daunting going into unchartered territory.  However, there is a lot of support for these courageous sustainability change makers, lessons learnt are shared, with a forceful network these individuals are radical collaborators, with common goals and purpose.

Looking at the data and setting net zero targets is not a strategy, and for the corporate world to push forward and thrive in a decarbonising world they need individuals who are a master of trades, with the confidence not to hold out for perfection, but to continually strive for workable long term solutions. They have a ‘get stuck in’ attitude and are ‘comfortable with being uncomfortable’, not just traditional influencers with strong stakeholder engagement.

If you are lucky enough to have action-driven people in your sustainability teams, hold on to them and keep them engaged – in a competitive decarbonising world these trailblazers have become a sought-after commodity!

At Climate17, we are proud of our network and contribution to Corporate Sustainability and work with many leading businesses. We support our clients through the hiring process and will dovetail our methods into your recruitment process.  Our candidates are an equal priority, as we know that a career move within sustainability requires diligent deliberation and is not purely based on financial gain.

If you have a recruitment dilemma and would like to find out how Climate17 can support your sustainability hiring needs, please reach out to Rachel Gladdis to arrange a meeting.
